Our final workday
Today was probably the most challenging day of our ten days on the ground in Kenya. There are a whole lot of emotions going on for everyone on our team as well as among our Kenyan friends, new and old. There are lots of sweet goodbyes and final opportunities to work side by side for this year. For many of us, it’s not goodbye but auf wiedersehen, “until we meet again” (a little German lingo, not Swahili). We spent the day at Gituamba, but it was vastly different in character than when we were there on Tuesday. The school was not in session today, so there were only about 20 kids running around. We missed them, but it was a good opportunity to get a lot of the projects done that we had started there earlier in the week. There were crews painting, anything that didn’t move, including walls and doors and window frames and lots of other things.
