Water filter distribution

Today was another great day of ministry for our team as we did our first day of water filter distribution and hygiene training. We went to the All Nations Springs of Life Church on the outskirts of Nakuru to their large facility. People were already lined up waiting to register when our Team arrived, and we unloaded and prepared the filter kits for distribution. The people scheduled to receive filters for their families were split in two groups with an initial group in the morning and a second smaller group patiently waiting to receive their filters in the afternoon. Dale led the training presentation with support from the Team members doing training about the sources of exposure to microbes and harmful bacteria, the importance of proper sanitation and hand washing and the difference between "clear" water and "clean" water. They were shown a visual presentation of use of the filter system and a graphic demonstration of the effectiveness of the UZima water filter that they would be receiving, using a clear filter demo kit. The entire presentation was done in English with our friend Sam and several of the SWOK university students translating everything into Swahili.

The filter recipients were then broken into smaller groups outside to receive their filter kit and a more in-depth personal hands-on training on use and cleaning of the kit. They recognize the value of the filter in its potential to provide clean drinking water for their entire family. The 203 filters distributed today represent over a thousand individuals who will no longer have to consume dirty water and all the negative consequences that represents. UZima is changing lives, one family at a time.
